Thrombosis Canada, the voice of vascular medicine in Canada since 1991, is pleased to announce the hiring of David Airdrie as its new Executive Director, effective December 1, 2016. This is a new chapter for Thrombosis Canada as it grows and evolves to deliver on its mission to further education, knowledge translation and research in the prevention and treatment of thrombotic vascular disease.

He brings a wealth of experience and expertise that, through the support of our members and sponsors, will take Thrombosis Canada to the next level of achievement”, commented Jim Douketis, President of Thrombosis Canada. “His expertise in communications and knowledge translation will be particularly valuable to grow awareness and increase uptake of the many resources Thrombosis Canada provides to health care professionals and patients.”
An experienced leader and manager, David comes to Thrombosis Canada with the expertise required to grow and support the organization as it looks to the future. With over 25 years in the health care field, he brings experience in strategic development, knowledge translation, medical communications, community engagement and execution that will support Thrombosis Canada as it builds its capacity. His experience includes managing a start-up vaccine manufacturer, leading development of a broad range of medical education and communication programs, developing innovative digital programs and developing strategic communications plans for many health care organizations.

I look forward to helping Thrombosis Canada achieve its potential”.
Thrombosis Canada partners with leading health care organizations to develop and deliver clinical guides and practice tools for optimal management of thrombotic disease. By bringing evidence-based primary and secondary prevention strategies to Canadian clinicians, it is our expectation that the human and economic burden of vascular disease will be reduced.

Thrombosis Canada comprises a membership that includes the most eminent and internationally recognized thrombosis experts globally. Members have made many significant contributions to the body of knowledge in vascular medicine and disseminated that knowledge through hundreds of high-impact, peer reviewed publications, as well leading the development of international clinical practice guidelines to aid in the dissemination of this knowledge.
